TRIGGER WARNING: This content deals with an account of suicidal ideations and may be triggering to some people. I am a mother of two. I am a wife. I am a sister, a daughter, a cousin and a friend. I am a survivor. I haven’t survived what some would consider a great feat, but to me surviving my teen years is huge.

What Should I Wear To Work? The Karma Of Being A Woman

11 Mar

By Barbara Farina

Women. We carry the stigma of a purported beauty or ideal of beauty. For years, we were told what was to be the length of our skirts, if we could wear pants or not and even what kind of shoes we could wear. Well, let’s face it, that has not changed much with the passage of time. Not as much as it should at least. Some countries are better than others, but it is still a problem in many places. For us women, it is very difficult sometimes to choose what clothes to wear. We always have to be thinking in terms of whether a garment is used for a party, another for Sunday dress best, casual attire, semi-casual attire and still others for work.

Children Are Not An Excuse To Do Less, But The Reason To Do More

11 Mar

By Barbara Farina

As a mother of two children who works from home and still takes care of my home and family, I cannot but feel a little insulted when a woman or a man gives the excuse that they have to care for their children as the reason why they cannot hold down a job. Maybe that is true in some land I’m unaware of, but right now, right here in Argentina where I live, that is not a valid excuse. Today, with the global economy what it is, many women are working outside their home that may not have  several years ago. I am not speaking of a part-time job, I’m talking about working 12 hours a day in order to keep their homes and feed their families. Survival…

Safety: Are You Being Careful Enough?

9 Mar

I live in a big city and although it’s a big city, I can honestly say that I’ve never really felt unsafe. Even when growing up in a neighborhood that was in one of the roughest areas of the city, I still never felt as if I was unsafe. I think this is primarily due to my awareness about safety and because I always had thoughts of safety first.

Fibromyalgia And Me: Living With An Invisible Illness

4 Mar

I didn’t start out feeling sick, my first symptom was a bad memory.  I couldn’t remember anything – the smallest things, the largest things – everything that used to be easy for me to remember was now slipping my mind.  I felt like I was going crazy!  This was almost ten years ago and I was too young to be having problems with my memory… only OLD people had problems with their memory!  So I went to my doctor and she said it was probably just stress and lack of sleep and prescribed a sleep aid.  I went home optimistic – hoping that would resolve my memory problem.  No such luck.

4 Tips to Revitalize Your Spring Wardrobe

3 Mar

By Carrie Eckles

Spring is coming. Anyone who knows me knows I’m not one to say such a thing, what with my very severe obsession with “Game of Thrones,” but it’s true: spring is coming. I’m not a spring person. I have allergies and I hate the heat, but, for me, there is one consolation: fashion.

Protecting Trademarks in New TLDs: ICANN’s Trademark Clearinghouse || Domainate.com

2 Mar

One of the biggest concerns about the new gTLD program since it was introduced about a year and a half ago was trademark protection. With several hundred extensions to come out within the year and thousands on the horizon, how could a smaller business deal with defending their trademark in even just the TLDs that might pertain to them?

12 More Ways To Be Legendary And Successful On Social Media – Forbes

1 Mar

Sharon Hayes, well known in email marketing circles as well as domain brokering, highlighted the real reason she doesn’t do the “auto followback” thing. “Why? Because I WANT to see who knew followers are. I use social media for networking. I want to see who new followers are. I send maybe 5-10 personalized DMs to new followers a week who I feel might present a mutually beneficial relationship of some kind. Much of this translates to new business. Social media should not be seen as mass marketing.”

Bravo to Ms. Hayes.
